Errata & the drawer

Old books printed their corrections on a page called errata. Websites quietly overwrite themselves instead. This site keeps the old habit: corrections stay public, and superseded work goes in a drawer instead of a shredder.

Errata

The adventure portfolio superseded

lived
early 2026, one HTML file, 648 lines
was
a choose-your-own-adventure where the visitor played the recruiter — dark pages, gold ink, branching paths
died of
cleverness. It performed for the visitor instead of letting them meet me.

My first real attempt at this portfolio. I still like its confidence and one of its tricks — the animation-reset that made every scene feel freshly turned. What I no longer like is its premise: it made the visitor a character in my script. The site you're in now tries the opposite — it hands you the map and gets out of the way.

what was salvaged from it

The dual-typeface system (serif voice, monospace catalogue), the taste for hairline rules, and a lesson: drama in the first minute costs trust in the fifth. You can still open it as it was — watermarked, unedited, exactly as it stood when it lost.

Two destroyed concepts destroyed

“The Forgery of a Creation Myth” and “The Redacted Prophecy” — finalist concepts for this site, both killed in audit. Cause of death, in both cases: they were impressive in the exact way that prevents recognition. A visitor would have admired them and learned nothing true. Their names are kept here as headstones, because grief for unchosen lives is one of this project's founding feelings, and it would be dishonest to feel it about everything except my own ideas.

placeholder page-note: everything on this page is real. When you correct anything anywhere on the site, add a row to the errata table — that habit is the page.
